| Appraisal | Offers breed appraisals, litter registration, ownership transfers and stud certificates. | A dog is registered for breeding only after a SABBS appraiser scores it, in person, against the standard. |
| What it tells you | The pedigree is recorded and the litter is traceable. | An expert has put hands on the dog and judged that it meets the breed standard. |

Appraisal day
At a SABBS appraisal, an appraiser goes over the dog section by section (head, body, movement, temperament) and scores it against the breed standard. Fall short and the dog isn’t registered for breeding.
Kellen has taken his dogs through it and filmed the whole day, nerves included. If you want to know what you’re actually paying for when a breeder says “appraised”, start here.
